I see two guys in the street shaking their fists, eventually beating and kicking each other, finally smashing their heads on the asphalt till blood spurts all over the place. They are no personal friends of mine, I just meet them occasionally and I know they’ve been doing this for a very long time for reasons probably unknown even to them by now. Time and time again, I and others have tried to reason with them, tried to convince them to solve their matters peacefully and in a civilised manner (or at least not out in public), but both men insinst it’s the other one’s fault.
And this shit’s been going on for years. Now, which side am I supposed to choose? Fuck ‚em both, I say, man! Just get the kids off the street so they don’t get hurt.
And I’d want neither of them stay in my place, y’know what I mean?

Das Bild sich irgendwie auf gleiche Art gegenüberstehender Kontrahenten stimmt nicht. Israelische Streitkräfte verstecken sich nicht hinter Kindern und Frauen, „palästinensische“ Banditen tun es dagegen sehr wohl und auch mit Bedacht.
Für diese sind zudem unterschiedslos alle Bürger Israels Ziele, während die israelischen Streitkräfte – oft unter Inkaufnahme eigener Nachteile – sich bemühen, zivile Opfer zu vermeiden, wo es nur geht.
Darauf setzen ja, allerdings nicht immer erfolgreich, nicht zuletzt „palästinensische“ Banditen, wenn sie sich in Schulen, die sie freilich noch mit Sprengfallen „sicherten“, verstecken, oder besonders ‚wertvolle‘ Waffen in Moscheen lagern.
Insofern ist die Aufforderung des israelischen Außenministeriums, man müsse sich entscheiden, ob man Terroristen bekämpfen oder sie unterstützen wolle, sehr angebracht. Die einen kämpfen für Werte, den anderen sind diese so gleichgültig wie ausnahmslos jedes Leben.
